Not only does Baltimore have exceptionally high salaries for cosmetologists, it also had the tenth highest employment level for the occupational classification that includes cosmetologists, hairstylists, and hairdressers as compared to all other metropolitan areas in the country as of 2013.
Maryland’s DLLR reported that Montgomery County had the greatest number of these professionals in the state as of 2013. More than 1,800 cosmetologists, hairdressers, and hairstylists worked in that area. Baltimore County had the second highest level of employment in the state with 1,580 licensed cosmetologists, hairstylists, and hairdressers. Three other areas were home to a high number of professionals in the field:
