The professional organization, Cosmetologists Chicago, hosted America’s Beauty Show 2015 March 21-23 in Chicago, attracting over 65,000 students, educators and industry professionals.
Cosmetologists Chicago, an independent association has been around for 103 years and has produced America’s Beauty Show for 90 years. Its mission is to give back to the beauty industry and help those in need.
During the event the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation honored Leo Passage who founded Pivot Point and was a member of Cosmetologists Chicago. Pivot Point has been leading beauty education for over five decades and has trained professionals from all over the world.
Personalized scheduling during the event was made possible by the new America’s Beauty Show Mobile App. This allowed attendees to receive instant messages from vendors as well as maneuver through the exhibits
March 22 was designated as the first Healthy Hairdresser Day. One thousand professionals were given goody bags filled with items from sponsors of Healthy Hairdresser. Salon professionals shared tips to the crowd on how to enjoy a long and healthy career in beauty.
Among the exhibits were more than 450 distributors and manufacturers of beauty products including hair care, nail care, hair extensions, tools and salon furniture. Attendees were given the opportunity to network with other professionals while learning the latest beauty trends. Exhibitors included Paul Mitchell, Wella, Scruples, Minardi Signature and Kenra.
Guests were also treated to a fashion show as NextGen talents styled models from Underground, StreetWear and Avant Garde/Haute Couture as part of a Trilogy of Beauty.
The event closed with the Wella Student Competition in which twelve finalists from cosmetology schools around the country competed against one another by creating a unique Wella look. Contestants were judged by Wella professionals including Michael Haase, Diane Stevens and Anthony Cole.
The 2016 America’s Beauty Show is slated for March 12-14 in Chicago.
